Welcome to the Historic Mark Prairie Schoolhouse
A Treasured Piece of Oregon’s Pioneer Past

A legacy of pioneer spirit, preserved for generations.

In 1847, the John Mark family journeyed west along the Oregon Trail, settling in what would become known as Mark Prairie. Their dedication to community and education led Alexander Mark to deed two acres for the construction of a one-room schoolhouse in 1879.

Nestled among towering oaks in rural Canby, Oregon, this schoolhouse has stood as a testament to resilience and community. From its early days as a center for learning and worship to its role today as a cherished venue for gatherings, it embodies the enduring spirit of the pioneers who built it.

We invite you to step into history, celebrate the legacy of the Mark family, and create new memories in a place where the past and present come together for all to enjoy.
